Startup weekend Copenhagen went mega
It was the biggest Startup Weekend ever in Europe. In mid-November 250 entrepreneurs, students, designers and programmers spent 54 hours at a stretch at Copenhagen Science City-partner Symbion, developing business ideas and taking their first steps towards building new businesses at the event Startup Weekend Copenhagen.
Four tracks to innovation
More than 50 nationalities had gathered to develop ideas within smart solutions, services, media and health. In each of the four subjects, mentors helped the teams prepare to pitch to a jury of highly experienced entrepreneurs, mentors and investors. These included Tommy Andersen from ByFounders, Peter Torstensen from Symbion and Accelerace and Annette Nørgaard from Microsoft.
Earlier entrants won big
Startup Weekend Copenhagen has a fine record of accomplishment. Previous participators such as Brickshare and Be My Eyes have gone on to great successes while The Eye Tribe were recently snapped up by Facebook.
Supporting individuals and communities
Symbion is one of Denmarks largest and most experienced startup communities offering co-working and shared office space to entrepreneurs, startups and growth companies, and they see the event as an obvious way to help individual entrepreneurs establish new businesses while at the same time supporting the general start-up environment in Denmark and Copenhagen.
