Leading nerve researcher relocates to Copenhagen

A DKK 40 million grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation is bringing professor Ole Kiehn and his laboratory to Copenhagen Science City, where he will continue his research on the nervous system.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation’s prestigious Laureate Research Grant is bringing exceptional, groundbreaking research to Denmark with a grant of DKK 40 million (approx. EUR 5.4 million) to fund the relocation of Danish researcher Ole Kiehn back to Denmark, where he will continue his work at the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

For more than 20 years, Ole Kiehn has been one of the world’s leading researchers into how the nervous system affects the body’s movements. Kiehn most recently conducted his research at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, but is now moving his laboratory to the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in Copenhagen Science City.

“This new, long-term funding will enable me to continue conducting world-class research in the field. Copenhagen has a well-established, dynamic and ambitious research community in the fields of neuroscience and motor control.
